The Fauntleroy Community Association held its Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday May 12th, 2020 at 7:00 PM. Due to Governor Inslee’s Stay Home Stay Safe orders the FCA held this meeting virtually using Zoom.
The Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for the FCA membership to hear how the FCA has represented them throughout the previous calendar year, and to cast a ballot for your appointed board members. The agenda for the meeting included a review of the accomplishments of 2019 and a vote for Board members. The ballot for Board members is: Mike Dey, President; Alexis Zolner, Treasurer; Frank Immel, Secretary; Kimberly Terry, Membership Secretary; Bill Wellington; Marty Westerman; Nils von Veh; Alan Grainger; Cathering Bailey; Susan Lantz-Dey; Sydney Hammerquist; Kris Ilgenfritz; David Haggerty; and Bruce Butterfield.
Typically we hold this meeting in conjunction with our Food Fest, a time to come out of our homes, meet up with friends and neighbors, share some delicious food provided by local establishments and business parthers. This year however, due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus), we elected not to hold the meeting in person in order to ensure the safety of our community.
Our monthly business meetings are typically conducted at the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse on the second Tuesday of every month (with the exception of August and December) at 7:00 in the evening. Meetings are open to the public.

In the face of the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and following the current recommendations of King County Public Health, the Fauntleroy Community Association is cancelling our Annual Food Fest event scheduled for March 17th. The accompanying Annual Meeting will be postponed with a date to be announced in the future. We recognize that many of our community members fall within categories that King County Public Health has identified as higher-risk populations.
We are saddened to have to cancel the Food Fest for 2020, but feel that it is in the best interest of our community. The Food Fest has historically been a fun event where members of our community come out of their homes and gather together, sampling food and wares from our local businesses. It is a time of fun and joy, and a beacon of light near the end of our long gray winter. However, this year it seems unwise to gather so many people in one space for what is a non-essential activity. We look forward to holding the Food Fest again in 2021 and hope to see everybody there.
Our Annual Meeting usually accompanies our Food Fest as it seems like a good time to share with the community the good work that we have done and to have the community vote on their board representatives. Our Bylaws require that we hold one annually and we are looking into ways we can do that safely. We will have more information regarding our Annual Meeting and the postponed date after our regular business meeting on March 10th this year. Our business meetings are typically conducted at the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse on the second Tuesday of every month (with the exception of August and December) at 7:00 in the evening. Meetings are open to the public.
Lincoln Park was well feted by the community on April 23 and April 27, 2013. Fauntleroy Community Association and several community organizations hosted a two-part celebration.

It featured information tables and presentations about the history, creatures, and ecological importance of the park, presented by Seal Sitters, the Whale Trail, Fauntleroy YMCA, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Puget Sound Partnership, Seattle Animal Control, Friends of Lincoln Park, and the Alliance for Lincoln Park Nature.

Celebrate Lincoln Park: Part II was held Saturday, April 27 (10:30–2:30 p.m.) at the park. Birders, beach naturalists, nature photographers and artists were involved in planning the event.
Seattle Aquarium Beach Naturalists (a volunteer group) helped visitors explore the beach during a minus-2.6’ tide. Seal Sitters, Tox-Ick, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, and Seattle Aquarium staff offered expert information near the shoreline. Local experts in birds, marine life, plants, ecology, nature photography, and art led nature walks and creative activities in the upper part of the park, helping visitors learn about forest plants and birds, and how to take good nature photos, keep a journal, and sketch or paint what you see. Children played leaf-hunt bingo and other games.
