Sound Transit DEIS Public Comment

date posted: 26 Apr 2022 by: Marty Westerman

This is a late moment reminder to send comments from Fauntleroy to Sound Transit for its DEIS public comment period. Though Fauntleroy may be distant from the construction zones between West Marginal and Alaska Junction, these issues are relevant to FCA.

DEIS comments are due to Sound Transit by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28.  You can email your comments to WSBLEDEIScomments@soundtransit.org, post them online through https://wsblink.participate.online/, or call them in to voicemail at 1-800-471-0879.

Many issues may be important to Fauntleroy residents.  For example, if you are employed in the Harbor Island-West Marginal area, or in North Delridge (from the Skylark to the Frye Business Center), those areas are slated for business displacement or teardown.  It’s similar for other businesses through Avalon to the Junction, and the newly-built Spruce or Maris apartment buildings are slated for teardown, along with Trader Joe’s and L.A. Fitness, to make way for the three, two block-long light rail stations that Sound Transit proposes.

Return to In Person Business Meetings!

date posted: 07 Apr 2022

The Fauntleroy Community Association is returning to in-person business meetings. On April 12th the FCA board will meet in the Emerald Room at the Hall at Fauntleroy (South end of the School House building) instead of our usual meeting place in the boardroom. Out of caution we have selected a larger space in which to meet. Alternatively we will still be operating our meeting in a hybrid fashion, allowing folks to connect via Zoom. Details for registering for the Zoom meeting can be found at fauntleroy.net/meetings

2022 Spring Egg Hunt

date posted: 01 Apr 2022

It’s almost time! For what, you say? The FCA Annual Spring Egg Hunt, of course. Between April 12 and April 16, volunteers will be hiding eggs throughout the greater Fauntleroy area. This is a no-candy event. The boundaries are 35th Ave SW, SW Morgan St and Puget Sound. So keep your eyes open for eggs that may appear on any day. When you see one, grab the kiddies and go hunting!

After finding an egg, we would love it if you would post a picture on Facebook, Twitter, or on Instagram. Don’t forget to tag your photo with #FCAegghunt. Also you can recycle the eggs at either the Old School House or at 8801 Fauntleroy Way SW. Have an eggsellent time!

Fall Festival Needs Fresh Volunteer Energy, Ideas

date posted: 01 Nov 2021

In September 2001, the United States went through one of its most challenging times. When I woke up that morning to the news that an airplane had flown into a building in New York, I hit “Snooze.”

By the time my clock radio came on again, another plane had flown into another building. I rushed downstairs to watch on TV as one of the biggest tragedies in American history unfolded. Kids at school, our teachers, our parents - everyone knew our lives had changed.

Traffic Meeting

date posted: 03 Oct 2021
A local Fauntleroy traffic issues meeting will be held virtually Oct 12, from 7 to 9 PM with members of SDOT, Seattle Police Department’s Southwest Precinct,  Seattle Police Traffic Department and City Council Member Lisa Herbold’s office.  This meeting stems from the most recent survey conducted by the FCA in which traffic issues such as speeding, noise, pedestrian safety and neighborhood cut-throughs were the number one concern of the Fauntleroy community.  We request that community members submit questions, concerns, recommendations and importantly issues with specific streets and cross streets where the issues exist to traffic@fauntleroy.net by the close of business October 8.  Questions will be compiled so they may be addressed by the attendees.  Registration Required.
