Low Tide at the Beach

Enjoy low tide at Lincoln Park and Constellation Park (south side of Alki Point) on a variety of dates in late spring and summer. Volunteer beach naturalists will be on hand to guide exploration and answer questions.

The next episode of Sweet, Sweet Music at Fauntleroy Church occurs on Friday, February 27 (7:30 p.m.) at Fauntleroys Fellowship Hall. Watch the fun as potential rock stars, people who like to sing in the shower, and others who can sing, play an instrument, dance (and more) get going on stage. Organized by Fauntleroy Church music director Bronwyn Edwards (bron@sirensongweb.com), this is a fun community-spirited event and small fundraiser for the church. General admission is $7 (seniors and students $5, kids are free), which includes dessert and coffee.

Each year, the Fauntleroy Community Association (FCA) sponsors the Fauntleroy Food Fest as a way to bring neighbors together, welcome new members, and renew existing memberships. Neighborhood and nearby restaurants and caterers contribute scrumptious treats, local organizations offer information and resources of interest to Fauntleroy neighbors, who mingle and talk. Members vote on a slate of officers, and fun is had by all. There is no charge to attend, but if you haven't paid dues in the past year, please bring your checkbook. Christine Mackay of Crooked Trails invites you to a screening of "The Day My God Died," an award-winning documentary film narrated by Tim Robbins depicting the efforts of two women (one in Nepal and one in India) to rescue and rehabilitate girls who have been sold into lives of sexual slavery in India. This is a film about courage and hope, and fighting back against a terrible scourge on the earth: sexual slavery. Crooked Trails is a nonprofit organization that specializes in community-based tourismand is passionate about causes such as this. In addition to the film screening, Christine will talk about her recent trip to Nepal. Register online to reserve your seat.
