Fall Festival attendance was about 1500 people. FCA members passed out
about 250 to 300 balloons, 10 or 12 balloons escaped. Next year FCA balloons
will be imprinted with the Fauntleroy Community Assn logo. Our table will be
at the same location. Kim Petram was thanked for her leadership of the very
successful Fall Festival and presented with a gift basket.
Vicki Schmitz-Block reports that the Harbor Ave Project has been
withdrawn. The Port has withdrawn the development option pending the new
commissioner’s direction.
Membership subcommittee met to find ways to increase membership. A new
online calendar has been created. Graphic artists were enlisted to improve
the look of the calendar and mailings. We will reach out to the community at
large to announce our March annual meeting and revise our dues structure.
Record keeping will be simplified by making all dues payable in the first
quarter of the year and can be paid at the annual meeting in March.
The newsletter will be revised a little bit. The President’s Corner will
become a Note From the Board, the focus will continue to be community
happenings and concerns. All articles should be submitted by January 4th.
New Construction – as long as zoning regulations are followed, there is
little we can do about the increased density and loss of views. FCA can
commiserate, but we must welcome our new neighbors.
Bus Rapid Transit – to be called Rapid Ride may be extended to the ferry
dock. There will be more details to come.
A Ferry district has been created by the King County Council. They will
take over the Water Taxi and passenger only ferries. Additional water taxies
are being studied.
The Fauntleroy Projects were not selected for funding this year. There
may be another small improvement competition in the future.
Phil Sweetland reports that ten to twelve fish went up the fish ladder at
Fauntleroy creek today. People are invited to come and watch for fish.
Treasurer’s report – Phil Sweetland reports a net income of $100.00 this
month.
Gary Dawson commends the workers at the ferry dock for excellent
co-operation. The origin and destination survey results are available
online. The report is very long and detailed and will be used to plan for
future ferry service.
The meting was adjorned at 9:00 pm. by Bruce Butterfield. There will no
December meeting.
Minutes submitted by Kathleen Dellplain, secretary.
