FAUNTLEROY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MINUTES
JULY 13, 2010
The meeting was called to order by President, Bruce Butterfield at 7:17
pm. In attendance were board members Vicki Schmitz-Block, Brent Spraker,
Susan Lantz-Dey, Bruce Butterfield, Martha Callard, Vlad Oustimovitch, Gary
Dawson, and Kathleen Dellplain. Also in attendance were Martha Tuttle, and
Sue Hildreth, David Haggerty, Patrick Sands, Marti Clements, and Kirk
Hackler. Introductions were made and the minutes from the last meeting were
approved.
David Haggerty was welcomed to the FCA Board, and David acknowledged his
appreciation at being included.
Sue Hildreth presented the 60% design for the Pump Station Upgrade beside
Cove Park. She had diagrams, and aerial photos showing the design and scale
of the project. Construction may start as early as January 2011 and continue
for 30 months. Part of that time one toll booth and the ferry lane will be
closed. Equipment and supplies will occupy almost all of Cove Park at that
time. The existing artwork will be moved and stored during construction.
A landscape plan for the rebuilt Cove Park will include beach grass,
ground cover, flowering shrubs, a paved ramp, and the art. It should be
lower maintenance than the current park.
The Rapid Ride station continues to be a problem. The Fauntleroy station
at the ferry dock will narrow an already congested area. Ideas such as
eliminating some vanpool spaces to widen the road, and regrading the street
were proposed. A subcommittee meeting will be held July 27th and a special
August 10th FCA meeting will be held to further discuss this.
Volunteer night was a success. New members willing to work on various
tasks attended.
Disaster preparedness handouts were distributed. Fauntleroy Church is our
local hub.
Treasurer’s report was previously sent by e-mail.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:05.
Submitted by Kathleen Dellplain, secretary.
