Meeting Minutes
Fauntleroy Community Association Minutes May 12, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by President Bruce Butterfield.
In attendance were; Vicki Schmitz-Block, Gary Dawson, Martha Callard,
Kathleen Dellplain, Vlad Oustimovitch, Brent Spraker, Martin Westerman, Seth
Schromen-Wawrin of Feet First, and Ann Dunbar. The April minutes were
accepted as written.
Updates – The Fall Festival Fundraiser at Endoline Joes raised over
$1000.00. More than twenty people helped with the cleanup at Cove Park. The
SNAP disaster preparedness meeting was lightly attended.
Martha Callard asked for volunteers for the Fall newsletter. We need a
substitute editor for the fall newsletter, because Martha will be out of
town. Any volunteers please call Martha at 932 3236. The Spring newsletter
will be ready soon; a mailing party will be scheduled once the labels are
printed. Guide lines are needed for future newsletter sponsors.
It was suggested that we do an outreach to the West Beach Condo residents
for membership and participation.
Seth Schromen-Wawrin gave a presentation on the way finding project of
Feet First. Feet First is a project to help pedestrians locate paths and
attractions. There was some discussion of a name for the Fauntleroy School,
Church, and YMCA area. Some suggestions were, Fauntleroy Center, Fauntleroy
Heart, and Fauntleroy Campus. Fauntleroy School, Church, YMCA seemed the
most informative. Seattle Department of Transportation will make the signs,
ideas for content and art will also be welcome.
The Kenney Home project design meeting went well. The latest design
lowers the profile of the new building and reuses an original building as
office space. There are still issues with parking, and the shading of
neighboring property.
The Joint FCA and FCSA meeting on the purchase of the Fauntleroy School
went well. The funding for the purchase of the school is proceeding. A
committee or chair for operating capital is needed. A new roof will be
necessary soon.
Ferry Advisory – Plans A, B, and C have been rejected. There may be some
stimulus money for new ferries, but no new docks. It is not likely that
there will be any new routes.
Our website may be out of date. Copies of articles of incorporation and
by laws should be posted on the website.
