Meeting Minutes
Fauntleroy Community Association
Business Meeting
May 8, 2007
In attendance was President Bruce Butterfield, Kim Dinsmoor, Lynn Olson,
Phil Sweetland, Vicki Schmitz-Block, Kathleen Dellplain, Vlad Oustimovitch,
Marty Westerman, Ann Dunbar, Martha Callard and secretary/Vice-President Kim
Petram.
The April meeting minutes were evaluated and approved by the board.
Fauntleroy School House The open house held April 29, 2007 was deemed
successful with approximately 100 people attending. The Fauntleroy Community
Service Agency has hired the Cascade Nature Conservancy to assess funding
available to purchase the building. As well, grant monies will be looked for
by the neighborhood steering committee group. The Seattle School District
appears to be indicating that, although their intent is to sell district
buildings, they would like to see the buildings used for community intent.
Fauntleroy Fall Festival The FFF held a fund-raising event at Endolyne
Joe’s April 24, 2007 which was very successful.
Food Fest and Annual Meeting Lynn Olson updated the board regarding the
status of the participants. Set up will be from 5pm to 6pm for the
participants. Room set up will be at 4:30 pm. Phil Sweetland will create a
layout for the room. The greeting table will be hosted by Ann Dunbar and
Vicki Schmitz-Block. Name tags and table tents will be created by Kim Petram
for all participants. Vicki Schmitz-Block volunteered to take photographs of
the event. Bob Callard will announce elections. Vicki Schmitz-Block has
spoken with Morgan Street Thriftway, Bakery Nouvou and Tony’s Produce who
all agreed to participate next year.
SW District Council Vlad Oustimovitch announced that Seattle City Council
member Richard Conlin attended the last SW District Council meeting. The SW
District Council is working on the issue of new home building height limits
as well as the foot print of new home buildings related to lot size. As
well, there is a nuisance house ordinance that is being discussed. The
proposed ordinance has severe language for violations. As well, there is an
issue along Harbor Avenue on Port of Seattle property. Development of the
property is pending zoning issues: mixed use as opposed to manufacturing
zoned.
Treasurer Report Phil Sweetland sent by email the treasury report for
May, 2007. Phil expressed his concerns regarding the lack of dues income for
the budgeted year. Currently we are below the anticipated level. Kim Petram
proposed that the board meet after the Annual Meeting to concretely set up a
plan of action for membership goals for the year. Martha Callard suggested
and offered to do follow up phone calls with all new neighbors who receive
welcome bags.
Ferry Advisory Committee Gary Dawson updated the board related to the WSF.
The Fauntleroy dock will be introducing electronic fares on 5/10/2007.
Grant Applications Vlad Oustimovitch has offered to write the grant
application for the new City of Seattle grant program for neighborhood
improvements related to parking, safety, traffic, etc. Proposals are due May
18, 2007. The FCA has identified a series of improvements needed in the
community which will be addressed in the proposal.
Bruce Butterfield adjourned the meeting at 9pm.
