The residential parking zone #3 (here in Fauntleroy) is under review for
update. The survey can be accessed from the West Seattle Blog.
There was a good turnout for the Food Fest and Annual meeting. The hall
layout worked well, members got in easily, and there was a good flow of
vendors and community service groups. The food was so good it was all eaten.
It was moved and seconded that we send $500.00 to Tuxedos and Tennis shoes
to defray the costs of set-up, clean-up and the waste free items.
We will follow up to our delinquent members with a copy of our annual
report and a self addressed stamped envelope, so that they may bring their
dues up to date.
Kim Petram reports that there will be a fund raiser at Endolyne Joe’s to
benefit the Fall Festival on April 29th. Profits will go to the Fall
Festival. Community input is requested for art projects with a community
theme. Feet First is planning way finding kiosks around Seattle. Kim will
meet with them to help design the Fauntleroy kiosks with a unifying
community theme. Fauntleroy community members are also encouraged to pledge
time to Feet First for implementation. A mural for the ferry bus terminal
also must be planned.
Vicki Schmitz-Block reports that the Save Our School committee is on
schedule. The next public meeting will be April 29 at 6:00. State Senator
Joe McDermott has also been working to save community school buildings. The
Fauntleroy Community Service Association is very optimistic about the
acquisition of the Fauntleroy School building. FCA will supply labels to
mail out meeting notices.
Seattle Land Use Planners held a sparsely attended meeting to get
community input for updating Seattle’s Shoreline Master Program. Discussion
included public access, natural resources, allowed uses, and future uses.
Details available at their website http://www.seattle.gov/dpd/Planning/ShorelineMasterProgramUpdate/Overview/
Pictures taken at the annual meeting should be submitted to Martha
Callard for the newsletter by April 25th. Articles should also be submitted
as soon as possible. Mailing will be the first week of May, to promote the
June meeting with the Police and Parks department.
SW District council- A motion was made to support the Feet First Way
finding trails project. The motion was seconded and approved. A letter of
support will be sent to help their grant request.
Ferry advisory committee- Gary Dawson reports that they are working on a
long range plan for all ferry routes. Southworth may get a downtown
passenger only boat if a boat becomes available. Right now there are no
spare boats. The proposed Rapid Ride bus will have a stop at the Ferry
terminal. And, the first house north of the dock was purchased by the county
for the Cove Park sewer project. The sewer project is being delayed by
lawsuits in another community, but the pumping station will be improved when
that is settled.
The Cove Park Spring Clean is April 27th starting at 11:00.
FCA members are encouraged to visit Fauntleroy.net and bring comments to
the May meeting.
The meeting was adjorned at 9:15.
