Business Meeting Minutes

Fauntleroy Community Assn. Minutes
February 12, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 by President Bruce Butterfield. Introductions were made and the minutes of the previous meeting were accepted. In attendance were Stephen Reilly, Kathleen Dellplain, Stan Lock, Gary Dawson, Lynn Olson, Phil Sweetland, Beth Gappert, Ann Dunbar, Kim Petram, Vicki Schmitz-Block, and Marty Westerman.

Stephan Reilly of the Cascade Land Conservancy introduced himself; he is working with the board of the Fauntleroy Children’s Center on a strategic action plan to save Fauntleroy School campus for the community. He will have a table at the Fauntleroy Community Assn. annual meeting and Food Fest, March 18. Stephan, Vicki, and Kevin will be at the table to sign people up. A special community meeting to discuss the status and options to acquire the Fauntleroy School campus will be held at a later date.

Food Fest Preparations – Lynn Olson showed the postcard invitations for the FCA Annual meeting and Food Fest. A few revisions were made. The membership lists will be reviewed by Ann for duplications. The mailing party will be held at Endoline Joes February 26th. There should be about 2000 postcards.

Kim Petram announced that the FCA was awarded a grant for a community calendar and membership drive. She will further explore the calendar parameters. We need to expand FCA membership. Most of the board members will renew for next year, Susan Lantz-Dey and Gordon Wheiler will be named to the 2008 FCA board.

Vicki Schmitz-Block and Marty Westerman will prepare the 2007 annual report. It will include the Fall Festival, Cove Park, and Watershed council.

All vendors except Abodonza have responded that they will participate in the Food Fest. Kathleen will follow up with Abodonza. *Abodonza plans to be there. Bruce and Lynn will finalize the layout. All members at the Annual meeting will be eligible for the drawings. We should have enough name-tags and envelopes for everyone.

Marty Westerman proposed that the Food Fest be a sustainable (no waste) event. All items should be compostable, recyclable, washable, or reusable. The board agreed. Marty will work with the vendors on this.

Phil Sweetland, treasurer, reports that so far this year dues are not covering expenses. Most members will probably pay dues at the Annual meeting.

Beth Gappert with the city attorney’s office introduced herself. Her office will be in the new SW Police Precinct building. She may be available for community issues.

Bruce Butterfield adjourned the meeting at 9:00pm. Submitted by Kathleen Dellplain, sec.
