Business Meeting Minutes

Fauntleroy Community Association Minutes
January 13, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by President Bruce Butterfield. In attendance were; Martin Westerman, Barbara Startz, Gary Dawson, Martha Callard, Ann Dunbar, Phil Sweetland, Vlad Oustimovitch, Lynn Olson, Susan Lantz-Dey, Patrick Sand of West Seattle Blog and Kathleen Dellplain. The November minutes were corrected. The General Community meeting in February covering disaster preparedness will be February 18.

Martin Westerman reports that no progress has been made on the business triangle or the speed bumps on 47th S.W. SDOT has decided on further study.

Gary Dawson reports that there will be a Ferry Advising meeting January 21st. The Washington State Ferry plan has a proposal to expand the dock and add a covered pedestrian walkway connecting to the ferries upper deck. All members were encouraged to bring in as many Fauntleroy residents as possible for comments. In addition SDOT plans to reduce all of Fauntleroy Way to one lane each way.

The February 18th community meeting will feature Debbie Goetz of SNAP with a preparedness presentation and the emergency shelter at Fauntleroy Community Church. Gary Dawson will have an update on the Ferry advisory committee. There will be a Fauntleroy School update, along with Rapid Ride, the Viaduct replacement, and The Kenney remodel. Information on landslide and mudflow awareness, and the Fauntleroy Way repainting will be available. Phil Sweetland will manage the program for the meeting.

Lynn Olson will send out letters to participants for the March 24th Annual meeting and Food Fest.

Vlad Oustimovitch reported that the early design guidance for The Kenney was well attended; the initial plan may be scaled back. The Viaduct replacement will be a bored tunnel.

Vlad made a motion that we write a letter of support for naming a West Seattle Park after Tim St Clair. It was seconded by Martha Callard and approved unanimously by the FCA board. Vlad will prepare the letter for Bruce’s signature.

Nominations are still open for the FCA Board. We need a Vice president and a data base manager.

There will be a pancake breakfast January 24th 8:30 to 10:30 benefiting the Fauntleroy Fall Festival. It will be held at Fauntleroy Community Church. All are welcome.

Phil reports the FCA budget is in the black, and the Fall Festival is in the red.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 by Bruce Butterfield.
